Great Adventures in History

Rolling Hills Great Adventures in History Wider Op

From July 22 to August 4, 2001, Rolling Hills hosted a Wider Opportunity entitled "Great Adventures in History". The two-week program included trips to New York, Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore, and focused on the rich history of the area. Activities ranged from whale watching in Cape May to star gazing on Broadway; from visiting a one-room schoolhouse to Ellis Island.

Forty-four girls from 39 Girl Scout councils participated. They came from all over the country - from Maine and California, from Washington State and Florida and in between. Their ages ranged from 13 to 17. At the end of the two weeks each girl took home a history project to share what she learned with younger girls in her own council.
